Yesterday I started a new blog feature called ‘Shout-Out Saturday’ (you can read the first instalment here) and today I’m starting a new Sunday morning feature called ‘The week that was…’. It’s basically going to be a weekly feature where I look back at the preceding week and talk about things which aren’t really ‘entire blog post worthy’ on their own.
This was partly inspired by finding my ‘Q&A a day 5 year journal’ again (blogged about here and seemingly exceptionally popular now, even gracing the Selfridges Christmas windows this year) and my general desire for this blog to be more diary-esque.
I am essentially going to interview myself, a la Alan Partridge in Mid-Morning Matters, because that seems the easiest way to do it.
I’ve become very much obsessed with the Summer of Sam soundtrack, particularly Elvin Bishop’s Fooled Around and Fell In Love. It reached number 34 in the UK charts in 1976 but it is currently number 1 in my 2015 heart. There wasn’t a music video of course, but someone has handily created a bizarre King Kong spoof set to the music if you do want to have a listen via the magic of YouTube.
I’ve made a Summer of Sam playlist on Spotify which encompasses all the 70s awesomeoness. I wouldn’t have done half as much cooking or shower dancing this week if it hadn’t been for this blaring out full blast.
