I nearly titled this post URGENT MARMITE NEWS, because this *is* urgent. I’d argue that anything which involves molten cheese and Marmite can be classified as urgent tbh, but as this limited edition treat is only around til Jan 31st you really do need to be quick.
Yep, there’s currently a secret Marmite menu at Bill’s restaurants in Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds, Glasgow, Bristol, Birmingham and all sites in London, which you can get your mitts on by coyly whispering the code phrase ‘Spread the Love’. (You don’t have to coyly whisper, you can use your usual indoor speaking voice, but I like to be as dramatic as possible).
For those who like to kick off breakfast with the hard stuff, you can order a “Marmite Mary” made with Chivas Regal 12 year-old, tomato juice, cream, lemon and a special Marmite reduction (a virgin version is available too) but the real showstopper is the “Marmite Rarebit” – a stupidly perfect blend of Marmite, crème fraiche, egg, English mustard and mature cheddar slathered across two slices of toasted bloomer and served with poached eggs and parsley. Avocado toast ain’t got nothing on this.
I went along with Lovely Lucy (her official name) to check it out at the Northcote Road branch yesterday and we both fell head over heels in love. I need to go again before the 31st comes around…then I need to work on my own rip-off recipe so I can enjoy it forever more.
We enjoyed soya mochas – sans Marmite – as we couldn’t bring ourselves to try tomato juice. These coffees, despite being free of Marmite, were still delicious.
If you like Marmite and you’re near a Bill’s, TRY THE RAREBIT. It’s available all day too so no need to confine this bad boy to the hours of breakfast.
YUM YUM YUM.
Thanks for having us Bill’s!
I have worked with Bill’s in the past but this is not a sponsored post, although now I’ve thought about it I really would love to be sponsored by Marmite. Chief Marmite Eater…or something.
