I wasn’t sure whether to cover my first trimester cravings and aversions in video format or as a blog post, but as I’m so used to making my Food Favourites videos, I thought a chatty vid might make more sense. Plus I could hold things up to the camera like I was doing an excited show and tell exercise in assembly.
I honestly had no idea how strong the aversions could be in pregnancy, it’s not like “oh I don’t really fancy that tonight” it’s more “if I even visualise that food item I might faint/vomit/cry”. And whilst I knew I might go off some foods, I didn’t expect to be averse to my FAVOURITE foods. I can’t drink tea, I hated chocolate, I can’t even look at eggs. WHO EVEN AM I?!
I also expected my cravings to be ‘zany’ – the late night pickle juice drinking of rom-coms rather than a penchant for water and apples. Who craves apples for goodness sake? Maybe I’m growing twin horses. (Do horses eat apples or am I going stark raving mad as well as losing my ability to eat food normally?!).
Anyway, I’d say grab a cup of tea and settle in to watch this video but as I can’t stomach tea these days (*sobs*) you’ll have to have a glass of squash. Or at least don’t bring your mug of tea within ten feet of me.
Thanks for watching! And please do subscribe to my channel if you haven’t already.
Would love to see your comments over on the video too if you’ve had any similar cravings/aversions?!
