When it comes to volume, I am a firm believer that the bigger the hair the closer to God. My hair can get REALLY big with the right styling and I am in the very fortunate position of regularly being able to get completely brilliant hair makeovers thanks to working with the talent powerhouse that is TONI&GUY.
But, as anyone who has the ‘pleasure’ of working with my hair will know, it’s naturally pretty damn lifeless. And until lank, fine, flat locks become a trend I will have to continue to battle with it to make it look half decent.
Like most women, I don’t actually have a hairdresser on hand to create the looks above every day (I’m working on it, obvs) so I have to do what I can…and what I can do myself isn’t very much. I put a lot of effort into keeping my hair in tip top condition, but when it comes to styling I am neither capable of doing much nor massively interested if there isn’t a hairdresser on hand to help. I may as well have rusty forks poking out of my shoulders when it comes to doing my own hair. I don’t have the time and I don’t have even the most basic of brush skillz. That’s why my hair is nearly always ‘up in a scrunchie’. (Thank GOD scrunchies have become cool again). I don’t have many other options.
But that is all about to change.
I’ve known label.m were going to release a brunette version of their Texturising Volume Spray for a little while now and I’ve been desperate to shout about it…but now it has finally launched so I can!
The original Texturising Volume Spray launched last year and it’s a truly awesome product that I can’t speak highly enough about. All those big hair looks above were created using it and I blogged about it here back in April.
It basically does as the name suggests, adding texture and volume to even the most lifeless of hair. Think of it as a blend of dry shampoo and hairspray, which can be worked to create a rough and edgy texture or something more slick if that’s what you prefer. The hold is amazing. It’s a product that just won’t quit.
Impressively, it’s now label.m’s third best-selling product.
Whilst I’m not massively dark, I do opt for ‘brunette versions’ of products where possible because otherwise the chalkiness that comes with anything powdery will always be a bit noticeable. I did use and love the original Texturising Volume Spray, but I always wanted a brunette version so that it would be completely invisible in my hair.
The new Brunette Texturising Volume Spray is exactly the same as its original predecessor, but it utilises brown powder so that you can’t see it in darker hair. Yes, that does mean that when you’re styling it you’ll notice it on your fingertips, but I’d always wash my hands after styling my hair anyway so it’s no big deal. (Why wouldn’t you wash your hands after doing your hair?!).
Whilst I LOVE the hairstyles above that were created with the product, I wanted to show you how it works in “real life” when you have zero hairdressing skill and 30 seconds to get out the door before you miss the train.
Basically, does it actually work if you’re not a hairdresser?
The answer is a big fat YES.
Excuse the fact I have no make-up on in these pics, I can’t stomach putting a full face of make-up on straight after a face mask “just for a blog post”, so you’ll have to ignore my eye bags. Think of it as adding to the “real life” element.
Obviously we’re not talking world class beehives here, but this is how I realistically use the product day to day. My hair is flat (see before pics) then I spray my roots and massage them for five seconds and my hair has lift (as per the after pics). No backcombing or brushing or heat or anything, this is purely just a spritz of the spray. And this isn’t lift that will flatten either, my hair will stay volumised now til I wash it. If it did start to drop I’d just run my fingers through it again.
The great thing about this product is that you can really layer it and see a difference. I generally wear my hair over on one side but when I wear it like that and it’s all flat it just looks horrid. With this spray it looks voluptuous…
And if I want it even taller I just spray again…
It’s really bloody brilliant stuff.
Let me know if you try it, we can have a hair-off.
